OpenCart catalog import, filtering and SEO redirects
The live Planar catalog needed to absorb large volumes of technical data without losing links to legacy entities or exposing disabled categories in faceted navigation.

Project brief
Establish repeatable catalog and update imports from external files, preserve legacy database mappings and fix navigation errors without broad, unverified SEO substitutions.
What was delivered
- imported EKDB technical catalog data into OpenCart
- processed the historical plbase.csv database and plupdate.csv update file
- maintained mapping tables between imported and current entities
- retained disabled categories in the database without exposing them in the active filter tree
- selected only active categories when building OCFilter data
- implemented six specific 301 redirects limited to legacy URLs verified in the source export
- verified the import, category structure and public redirects
My role
Analysed the OpenCart structure and historical exports, then enhanced the importer, category filtering and the map of verified legacy URLs.
Outcome
The catalog updates from external sources while preserving entity mappings, disabled categories no longer pollute the filter and verified legacy addresses resolve to the correct current pages.
